RecyclingWorks in Massachusetts is hosting a no-cost Practical Skills Compost Site Operators Workshop with an emphasis on composting food materials. This two-day virtual workshop will focus on compost site planning and operational best management practices. This workshop is geared towards any Massachusetts compost site operators that are currently accepting or considering accepting food materials. The workshop will be led by James McSweeney of Compost Technical Services. Attendees are welcome to register for one or both days of the workshop.
Day 1: Compost Site Planning – March 23, 2021 – 10:00am-12:00pm
The first day of the workshop will cover planning, design, and operational considerations for newly established sites of all sizes, ranging from community gardens to large commercial operations. Representatives from The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection and The Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources will present on composting regulations and permitting and be available for questions. Day 2: Reducing and Managing Contamination – March 24, 2021 – 10:00am-12:00pm
