In March 2016, Tufts University Dining, staff, faculty, students, and Food for Free partnered together to create the Tufts Food Rescue Collaborative. This collaborative aims to minimize food waste and address food insecurity in their local community. Food for Free rescues surplus food and delivers it to their Hotel Family Meals program. Tufts dining is able to donate approximately 200 lbs of food per week to Food for Free.

Learn how to start a food rescue program at your business at RecyclingWorksā€™ workshop, Getting Started with Food Donation, on June 28th in Cambridge. This workshop, which is part of Harvard Food Law and Policy Clinicā€™s Reduce and Recover: Save Food for People conference, will help connect food service businesses to Food for Free and other food rescue programs.

If you are a food service business in the greater Boston area, register here for the workshop.

RecyclingWorks in Massachusetts posted guidelines to help food service businesses safely donate to food rescue organizations.
