This article from the Sunday, March 3rd edition of the Worcester Telegram highlights some interesting information about anaerobic digesters in Massachusetts.  Besides diverting organic waste from landfills, digesters produce heat and electricity, produce fertilizer, provide dollar savings from waste disposal, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions and fossil fuel use.

Massachusetts is considering several sites for a digester on state land, including MCI Shirley.
