The National Restaurant Association (NRA) has begun to work with the Food Waste Reduction Alliance (FWRA) to help reduce food waste and use the data they collect to help identify areas with the greatest potential for such reduction.  This article from LeanPath describes how the NRA sees the reduction of food waste as a way to reduce costs while also creating new sources of revenue.
