Rescuing Leftover Cuisine (RLC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that rescues surplus food from businesses and redistributes it to nonprofit and community organizations serving people experiencing food insecurity.
RLC connects food donors with volunteer “Rescuers,” who pick up surplus food from businesses and deliver it to local organizations at no cost to the recipient partners. Through this network, RLC helps businesses reduce food waste while increasing access to food in their communities.
Food donor partners include restaurants, hotels, schools, caterers, corporate cafeterias, food manufacturers, and other businesses with surplus food. Nonprofit recipient partners include food pantries, shelters, soup kitchens, and other community organizations that serve people experiencing food insecurity.
Partnering with RLC helps businesses:
- Keep surplus, edible food out of landfills and get it to people who can use it.
- Reduce food disposal and waste-management costs.
- Support local communities and demonstrate a commitment to sustainability and food access.
- Receive food donation documentation that may support eligibility for applicable tax benefits.
RLC works with food donors to coordinate pickups around their needs, including recurring and one-time donations. Businesses can inquire about donating surplus food to learn more about available options.
