About Lowell House
In 1971 Lowell House began as a 12-bed residential treatment program for male alcoholics. In 1988 Lowell House opened the Glenice Sheehan Women’s Program. This unique program was one of the first of its kind in New England and continues to fill a major gap in residential treatment services for women in the greater Merrimack Valley and has one of the most successful graduation (successfully completing the program) rates in Massachusetts. Lowell House serves clients at 10 sites (we will add three programs in 2024) in the Merrimack Valley region, with programs located in Lowell, Lawrence, Haverhill, Redding and Tewksbury.
The epidemic of addiction destroys lives, devastates families and costs our country hundreds of billions of dollars in lost productivity annually, and it continues to grow at an alarming pace. For profit addiction treatment for one individual can cost over $30,000 a month. Lowell House’s comprehensive and supportive treatment costs $6,000 to $7,000 a month depending on the level of care provided. Because of Lowell House’s 53 years of creative and caring experience serving this population we are able to provide extremely cost-effective addiction treatment and mental health services.
Lowell House’s residential programs
Glenice Sheehan Recovery Home for women and Men’s Recovery Home are innovative and unique residential program serving chronic substance abusing adults 18 years and older located at the Tewksbury State Hospital in Tewksbury, Massachusetts.
Solstice House and Tower Hill Recovery Home are licensed Residential Rehabilitation Co-Occurring Enhanced (RRS/COE) programs. These programs provide treatment for individuals with both a substance use disorder and a moderate to severe mental health disorder who can benefit from a safe, structured developmentally appropriate environment and are stable enough upon admission to benefit from this level of care. Solstice House is for women and located in Reading, Massachusetts. Tower Hill is for men and located in Lawrence, Massachusetts.
Zack’s House is our staffed, transitional residential program for eight young men 18 to 35 years old who are looking to live and grow in a sober environment. Lowell House provides supportive case management and programs in a beautiful, completely renovated home in Lowell, Massachusetts.
Lowell House’s sober houses
Lowell House’s sober houses, Saving Grace for women and Hanover House for men, both located in Lowell, Massachusetts, provide a physically and emotionally safe, secure, and respectful home environment to foster an alcohol and drug-free lifestyle for members. Sober housing is an option that offers individuals peer-to-peer support to maintain long-term recovery with a case manager on-call for emergencies and allows us to provide a continuum of care for our clients.
