Masslive reports that Valley Zero Waste, a volunteer-run group, is hosting a contest to design a window decal for restaurants that divert food scraps for composting. The announcement of this contest coincides with the one year anniversary of the Massachusetts Commercial Organics Waste Ban. The window decals are intended to help encourage smaller restaurants, which are not subject to the ban if they generate less than one ton of organic waste per week, to voluntarily divert their food scraps.
The winner of the decal contest will recieve a $50 gift certificate. Submissions should be at least 4.5 inches and include the words “We Compost!” Email submissions to valleyzerowaste@gmail.com by November 12th.
