This program was designed to meet the requirements of the Massachusetts Board of Registration for Sanitarians, 255 CMR 5.00 for 2.8 contact hours of continuing education.
The Compost Site Operations Management training presented by RecyclingWorks in Massachusetts (RecyclingWorks), a program funded by the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP), is intended to provide local public health officials with valuable information to support their efforts working with compost operations in their communities.
Representatives from the Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources (MDAR) and the MassDEP will share relevant regulatory information. James McSweeney of Compost Technical Services will provide an overview of operating procedures that are most likely to result in well managed sites and minimize potential for odor, vermin, and other nuisances. Health officials attending this training will learn about relevant resources and best practices that will support them in working with compost site operators. RecyclingWorks provides similar training sessions directly to compost site operators.
